Romeo and Juliet (1968)

While most teenagers here were raving about how beautiful The Lucky One was, I was at home watching the 1968 film adaptation of the tragically beautiful love story of Romeo and Juliet, and altogether falling in love with the beautiful stars to ever play Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet: Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting.

I was completely and gracefully blown away by how strong and convincing Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting's acting were. Every line of the script they uttered flowed like pure, deep-seated emotions, as if words were not of any understandable language. The film itself was way beyond satisfactory for me to immediately appreciate a piece of literature I have not read yet (I've been wanting to read the book ever since, but I haven't the time to "decipher" the lot of Shakespeare's words, so... HAHAHA), and am now convinced that it really is the greatest love story of all time (although it happened only within days, but still), neck to neck with Moulin Rouge, which by the way belongs to one of my all time favorite love stories. Tee hee

Well, anyway, this 1968 Romeo and Juliet film adaptation, in my opinion, has by far the most well thought of screenplay and cast of characters. OH AND PLUS, PLUS, PLUS!! THE BEAUTIFULLY ENCHANTING SONG IN THE FILM SOUNDTRACK: A TIME FOR US, is truly, beautifully enchanting! I have always loved this song, but I never had the chance to discover what the title was until this film!! I have already downloaded around 4 versions of it including one rendition from the one and only Henry Mancini who composed the music to one of my favorite songs EVER: Moon River, and one by Andy Williams (my favorite Christmas song singer HAHA)!

Generation Frustration

Why am I always being surrounded by pretentious bird brains, nutheads, dimwits (YES they all mean the same but I just wanted to emphasize), shallow, unenducated and ill mannered people?? I am so frustrated with this generation that it raised itself to become slaves of conformity, with the thinking that their ability to "fit in" in a poisoning society will garner them "points" in proving to other people that they can be "great" or "classy" or "respectable", and therefore ignoring the proper virtues needed for humanity to grow into the ideal [or acceptable, at least] state they need to grown into.

Well guess what, 90% of you people (including me) who belong in this generation: YOU ARE LOSERS. WE ARE LOSERS. Hate me for this, but this is what I am seeing right now.

Think back on what all the REAL great people did to make a difference in the world, like Gandhi, J.F. Kennedy, Mother Theresa, Martin Luther King, Jr., Princess Diana, Gabriela Silang and yes, even Hitler was great because he knew what he wanted and had at least a vision for himself and for his people - a completely twisted one though, but still. Now analyze and look back on the traces they have left that touched, inspired, shook, destroyed and influenced the life of many.

Don't you want that? Don't we want that? That lingering drive and energy to fulfill even the smallest dream of difference we have for the world.

I am hoping for this generation to have that. Maybe not now, but hopefully in the near future, where all of us will actually care, unite and help each other for our sakes and for  the sake of the human race and of the world as well.

Golden

I have been very, very, very busy lately due to my summer class and my internship, which means that I haven't the grandest of time to go to malls or anywhere recreational in particular like most of the summers I had. So I took the opportunity and went for a little shopping just last week, since I was able to save enough money for impulsive buying from my allowance.

I normally do not talk of the things I buy, except for nail polishes that I take swatches and pictures of, and others which I think are interesting and rare. But I'm making right now an exception as well, because I've noticed a pattern on the things I recently bought. And simply because I'm just too happy that I did.

Revlon nail polish in Sparkling

This nail polish is very sheer that numerous coats are needed for full glitter coverage, but nonetheless all right. The glitters scatter evenly and the outcome looked clean and perfect on my nails and skin tone.  I'm probably going to use this often in replacement of the usual nudes and pinks when I'm feeling playful with my nails without it being too loud.

Stalag 17

I've heard my dad and my brother talk about this movie a long time ago, and only now did I get the chance to see it for myself.

Stalag 17, like every other American war picture, is interestingly smart and plot driven (Read summary here). One of the things I liked in this film is the entirety of William Holden's presence HAHAHA! When I read the the plot, the outstanding reviews, and the cast of characters and learned that Holden played the role of the courageous and witty Sgt. J.J. Sefton, and Billy Wilder being the director, I automatically thought that THIS really is a quality film. William Holden had the ultimate handsome bad ass character and appeal during his generation, and by god, he was a very good actor (Holden is included in the list of the Top 50 screen legends of American cinema). I was first mesmerized by him in Sunset Boulevard, and I've admired him since then.

Birthday Beach!

I celebrated my 19th birthday last April 1, Sunday at Playa Laiya in San Juan, Batangas with four of my friends from high school and some relatives from my mother's side of the family.

We were very lucky to have had such a nice sunny weather that day since it has been raining hard the whole week.

Camille, Katrina, Kim, Nixie and I had dinner at Four Fingers here in Quezon City afterwards, which by the way, serves the BEST tasting chicken burger I have EVER eaten in my entire life. The place is similar to Bon Chon, but a little more expensive. BUT mind you - it's more sulit and they definitely make heavenly tasting chicken. Too bad though, I wasn't able to take pictures because I was so hungry and the food smelled so good that even my tummy didn't draw away attention from its succulence (..and now again, I'm craving).

Drained

I am physically drained right now because of our finals. I still have a lot to accomplish until tomorrow and I haven't the single muscle to try and do it because I keep on procrastinating (hence, this post). My 3rd year in college is almost over and I have to work triple hard cramming.

I just wish for the last two days to at least go faster!

Verre

I have been fond of colored water glasses just recently so I also decided to take photographs of a few and give a vintage "feel" to the colors.

Backyard

I felt inspired to take photographs today so I decided to take photos at our backyard.

The Silence of the Lambs

The Silence of the Lambs is based on a novel by Thomas Harris. It is the sequel to Harris' first novel, Red Dragon, which was also adapted to a film previous to this one, entitled Manhunter.

The movie was amusingly horrifying, so much so that I had to take a break during the last few scenes, because I felt like I was going to have a heart attack. I am not exaggerating. I felt my heart pounding and I was literally on the edge of my seat while watching.

Jodi Foster made a very impressionable role as an FBI trainee/agent. I liked her in Panic Room, and I admire her now, because of this role. For a beautiful woman like her, she sure was able to portray a smart and subtle bad ass all at the same time. No wonder she won an Academy Award for Best Actress for playing the role of Clarice Starling.

"Buffalo Bill" was seriously very disturbing - so was Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), as always. Which was good thing, though, because I got to take in the real "feel" to the characters.

What I did not quite enjoy in this film, however, are the tummy-turning murdered bodies. I recommend you not watch this film after eating if you don't want to throw up. But this film is just excellent altogether.

This is the 2nd best thriller I've seen so far next to Stanley Kubrick's The Shining.
